Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are infections you can get by having sex. HIV is a virus that causes AIDS. If you get AIDS, you can die. HIV is an STD. There are over 50 known STDs; the following are the most common:
- Chlamydia
- Genital Warts
- Gonorrhea
- Hepatitis B / Hepatitis C
- Herpes
- HIV/AIDS
- Mucopurulent Cervicitis (MPC)
- Non-gonococcal
- Syphillis
- Trichomoniasis
- Urethritis (NGU)
Often over 80% of women and men have no symptoms at all. Many of the infections can be treated with medicine.
The Kenosha Sexual Health Awareness Clinic (KSHAC) can help if you are concerned about HIV or STDs.
At the Clinic, you can:
- Be checked and treated for STDs. Check-ups are important. Many STDs don't have symptoms.
- Take a test for HIV. A test is the only way to tell if you have HIV.
- Learn how to prevent STDs and HIV
- Get help finding other services
