MEDICARE WORKSHOPS FOR 2012

The Kenosha County Elder Benefit Specialist Program offers a Medicare Workshop called “Welcome to Medicare.” This workshop lasts two hours and is targeted to those new to Medicare, seniors, caregivers and those who work with older adults. The workshop is held at different locations throughout Kenosha County. At the workshop you will learn about enrolling in Medicare, the basics of Medicare coverage, appeal rights, options for private health and drug coverage as well as public benefits available to help with health care costs. Below is the schedule of workshops through June 2012:

Seating is limited to 25-30 depending on location. Reservations are required for seating & handouts. Please call the Aging & Disability Resource Center at #605-6646 or 1-800-472-8008 to reserve your spot.

MEDICARE CHAT GROUP:

You may wish to attend a small one and ½ hr. discussion group to learn about Medicare options. This group is limited to 10 persons. You will watch a 10-15 minute Medicare educational video then have the opportunity to ask questions of the group facilitator.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a 6 week educational series designed to help unpaid caregivers take care of themselves while caring for a relative or friend.

Fun 'n Fit 2012

The next Fun 'n Fit Recreation & Fitness Resource Fair will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Kenosha YMCA. The event is FREE and Open to the public of all ages and abilities. In 2011 Fun 'n Fit 375 guests joined us for the day and 26 exhibitors shared information and resources.

The event featured the 2011 National Champion UW Whitewater Warhawks Wheelchair Basketball team. Music by the Tim Allen Band and Tony Memmel. Accessible kayaking, scuba diving, rock climbing, gardenting Tai Chi, yoga, massage, line dancing, aerobics and Zumba.
