Based on research by experts, this new six week course provide meaningful training for family caregivers. Savvy Caregiver is that opportunity. The Program The Savvy Caregiver Training Program provides over 12-hours of face-to-face training with dementia experts, a caregiver manual and access to additional online caregiving tools. - Knowledge to manage activities of daily living. - Skills to assess the abilities of your family member with dementia and adjust your approach over time. - Confidence to set and achieve caregiving goals.

    There are over 40 causes of changes in memory and thinking. Some are very treatable. It is not always easy to spot changes in ourselves. A memory screen is not a diagnosis. It’s simply a way to detect anything that would merit follow-up with a doctor. When the conditions causing changes in memory and thinking are found early, treatment and care improve. You can have more control of your future planning. Having a memory screen done today can give you a baseline to compare to in the future.

    The rate of opioid overdose deaths in Kenosha County has nearly doubled over the last decade. Narcan can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Addiction has no stereotype.     The Impact of the Opioid Epidemic Join us as we look at some of the factors that have fueled this epidemic of addiction, and discuss what employers, employees and their family members need to know to be healthy and safe. Specifically, we will: • Discuss opioid addiction, signs of abuse and its impact on employers. • Share best practices employers can utilize when partnering with their workers’ compensation carriers and Health Insurance EAP providers. • Review some of the federal labor and employment laws implicated by the opioid epidemic. • Receive resources in Kenosha County and Employee Handbook Language From drug testing, to reasonable accommodations, to mandatory EAP referrals and last chance agreements, we will review common strategies for addressing drugs (and alcohol) in the workplace.

  5. 2 Wheels for 2 Counties Charity Ride

    June 23, 2019, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM @ Brighton Dale Park

    Proceeds from this ride will be donated to bicycling organizations in Racine and Kenosha Counties. There are ride distances available for recreational cyclists, novice riders, and racers. Choose between 25, 44, 62, and 100-mile routes for your level of enjoyment or challenge. All routes will have looping segments utilizing a wonderful rest stop at Eagle Lake. The ride takes place on lightly travelled paved roads through the gently rolling countryside of Racine and Kenosha Counties. Maps and queue sheets & GPS data available at registration table. Roads will be marked for easy traveling. Registration Fees: $25/person before June 1st $30/person after June 1st

    This program in partnership with Pringle Nature Center, Kenosha County Parks, and County Executive Jim Kreuser. Tots in the Park is for children ages 3-5 with a parent. This hour long program gets children outside and having fun exploring nature. Tots in the Park will meet at Pavilion #6 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. every Monday starting June 17th and ending July 22nd. Pre-registration is necessary to ensure enough supplies are brought.
